Front End Developer (Copenhagen)

Location: Copenhagen
Type: Full Time
Experience: Mid-Senior Level

At Zmags we work with a Kanban agile methodology, giving a lot of accountability and autonomy to the developers. We work with user stories and have several meetings with the Product Owner throughout the week, and daily stand ups. As a front-end developer your task is to understand the story and implement it in the software, ensuring high quality (tested) and UX compatibility (together with the UX-team). Once we are ready we like to peer review it, and then it can be checked it in to our master branch, which is releasable at all times. And we actually do this, as we don't have set sprint times or release days.

As you can understand from the above, as a Front-end developer at Zmags your days are never boring. We expect you to have a good way of communicating and the ability to join in as a team member, to learn and understand the ins and outs of the existing code base, and work with the front-end team to continuously improve. We have a mandate to improve via technical stories.

You need to have at least 2 years of experience in Front-end development. It's of course a very good thing if you are also more towards "Full-Stack", meaning you understand backend (Java), databases (mongo/mysql). Basically you need to be a very sympathetic and well-experienced developer to be able to fit in great in our team.

At Zmags you get that startup feeling, but with stability. We are honoring the agile manifesto with valuing "Individuals and interactions over processes and tools" meaning that for the right person, this is a great opportunity to join a fast moving and well-working team on our continuous journey towards making a great product.

Also, as perks you have all the "infrastructure" you need. Other than Mario Kart tournaments or a game of table football which helps you stay competitive and on your toes - we have our lunch over at Torvehallerne. https://torvehallernekbh.dk. Free coffee, Tea, Soft drinks - it's all here.

We are situated right smack in the middle of Copenhagen on prime location, next to Nørreport S-train, Bus and Metro station. A couple of times per year we arrange code nights too: https://www.meetup.com/ZmagsCodeNight.

We tried to keep this job ad a little bit more meaty and without using the standard job ad words, however there are some "hard requirements".

  • No agencies. We are targeting front-end developers directly and are not accepting candidates from recruiters.
  • You have to be eligible to work in Copenhagen (remote is OK once we know you and we have a good flow. This still means most of the interactions at our office).
  • You are already living in Denmark and in close proximity to Copenhagen, (ie Malmö/Sweden or in the Øresund area). Applications outside DK/this area will be not be taken in to consideration.
  • You do have at least 2 years of experience with front-end coding (experience with ES2015/ES6, Webpack and application development using frameworks like Backbone.js/Marionette.js, Angular.js or React.js is highly qualifying).
  • You are ready and willing to take a front-end test. This is to save time (and expectations) for everyone.
  • You feel comfortable speaking English.
  • You are familiar with object oriented concepts/paradigms and application development in general

In addition to these hard requirements, if you meet the above requirements we promise to:

  • Answer every application personally, not using standardized auto-mails
  • Give you feedback on the process

If you feel that this opportunity sounds like something that would fit your acceptance criterias for your next job - please apply. If it doesn't - then we thank you for the time spent reading all the way here. It was great meeting you.
