Senior Javascript Engineer

Location: Boston, Copenhagen, London, or Remote
Type: Full Time
Experience: Mid-Senior Level

At Zmags we work with a Kanban agile methodology, giving a lot of accountability and autonomy to the developers. We work with user stories and have several meetings with the Product Owner throughout the week, and daily stand ups. As a front-end developer your task is to understand the story and implement it in the software, ensuring high quality (tested) and UX compatibility (together with the UX-team). Once we are ready we like to peer review it, and then it can be checked it in to our master branch, which is releasable at all times. And we actually do this, as we don't have set sprint times or release days.

As you can understand from the above, as a Senior Javascript Engineer at Zmags your days are never boring. We expect you to have a good way of communicating and the ability to join in as a team member, to learn and understand the ins and outs of the existing code base, and work with the front-end team to continuously improve.

To be successfull as a Senior Javascript Engineer at Zmags you need to know Javascript basic concepts very well, and be able to demonstrate these in a test, which will lead to a code review. This is our way of getting to know you and assess the fit with the team.

At Zmags you get that startup feeling, but with stability. We are honoring the agile manifesto with valuing "Individuals and interactions over processes and tools" meaning that for the right person, this is a great opportunity to join a fast moving and well-working team on our continuous journey towards making a great product.

Also, as perks you have all the "infrastructure" you need. Other than Mario Kart tournaments or a game of table football which helps you stay competitive and on your toes - we have our lunch over at Torvehallerne. https://torvehallernekbh.dk. Free coffee, Tea, Soft drinks - it's all here.

We are situated right smack in the middle of Copenhagen on prime location, next to Nørreport S-train, Bus and Metro station. A couple of times per year we arrange code nights too: https://www.meetup.com/ZmagsCodeNight.

These are our expectations:

  • You have to be eligible to work in Boston, Copenhagen, or London (remote is OK once we know you and we have a good flow. This still means most of the interactions at our office).
  • You have at least 4 yeasrs of experience with software development.
  • You have a thorough understanding of javascript (ES6/ES2015).
  • You have a solid understanding of the full web technology stack (e.g. HTTP, headers, asset loading / caching)
  • You write scalable, modular and testable code
  • You are ready and willing to take a javascript assignment. This will be reviewed by developers and is our way to get to know you.
  • You feel comfortable speaking English.
  • You are familiar with object oriented concepts/paradigms and application development in general.

We have a hiring process with quick decisions. If you feel that this opportunity sounds like something that would fit your acceptance criterias for your next job - please apply. If it doesn't - then we thank you for the time spent reading all the way here. It was great meeting you.

  • No agencies. We are targeting back-end developers directly and are not accepting candidates from recruiters.

  • You have a good understanding of cloud based environments (ie. AWS).
  • You have a strong educational background, preferably a master in computer science.

  • Give you feedback on the process
